Sacrifice
The metaphor of reincarnation plays out in every one of us in a biological way, as we have had parents. We instil that part of us we wish to see go on in our children. We sacrifice for them, hoping they live after our death, propagating what it was we cared about ourselves to yet another generation.
Our children's foundation is in the hearth of our own life. They see the sacrifice or not, and in turn pass it on another generation. What more of value is there in metaphysical hope for a cycle of living? Let us focus on those around us that count, and leave from our own life a small ripple in the sea of humanity, a wake from our having been. Let that be a wave of enthusiasm, insight, and compassion.
It is not the rock that has dropped, but the rings that reach out to humanity. Seeing this, the sacrifice is easy, a gift.
