Philosopher's Precipice
Though not initially clear on first glance, the philosopher, as each of us, stand on a precipice. It is perhaps not so obivious at first in the picture. The world is grand, the intellectual legacy we have inherited can seem overwhelming. It seems that there may be a place constructed just for us, for our mind to feel comfortable. And yet if we reach for it, we risk falling off the stable grounds of objectivity, skepticism, and patient contemplation.
