The Saint of Industry
Many of the saints mentioned in different religious traditions are famed for how they died. The "gave their life" for something that they believe in, and religious institutions use this sacrifice as an example for others to follow should the need arise.
However, a greater sacrifice is the gift of one's whole life, a bit at a time. This is what the industrial worker does. For his family to achieve a way of life, he puts in 8 hours a day, often in terrible working conditions, grinding away the hours of his life without praise.
Why this sacrifice, for heaven, for fame, for glory. No. It is for simple human love, not being loved, but the love they have for their families that make them pay a more ultimate sacrifice than sudden death. It is the sacrifice of giving one's entire life over time.
