Jikatabi

The Jikatabi are two toed shoes which are a traditional footwear
for gardening, and mountain climbing.  The people of Fuji who
wear these were usually  people traveling in groups enacting
particular traditions.  This footwear is much better for mountain
climbing than regular hiking boots because one can feel your
footing much better and one's feet are constantly massaged while
walking.  But don't use them on concrete for long, as they have
little padding.
